The Account Executive is responsible for the relationship between the agency and their clients.  The Account Executive will look after client’s needs through direct contact, liaison, and the management of staff and agency resources.  The Account Executive will be the key, day-to-day agency representative to the client and will maintain a highly responsive service orientation in all transactions.  They must be knowledgeable in both the client’s business and the agency business.  The Account Executive reviews all creative concepts to confirm whether they meet strategic creative guidelines before they are delivered to the client for approval.  The Account Executive is responsible for keeping regular strategic contact with the accounts assigned to them.  The Account Executive reports directly to the Account Service Manager.

Essential Job Functions:

  • Review all strategic and media decisions formulated by the various operating departments before they are delivered to the client.
  • Review estimates, quotations and invoices for all client projects before they are submitted to the client.
  • Reviewing media plans, public relations plans, and creative strategies before submitting to the client.
  • Conducting and running of monthly strategic meetings for all accounts.
  • Summarizing and communicating strategic analysis for all accounts. 
  • Obtain referrals from current clients on a quarterly basis.
  • Maintain a retention rate of 90% for all current clients annually.
  • Determine and implement an up-sell strategy for all assigned accounts.
  • Meet with management and assigned staff on a weekly basis to review activities, specific account problems and opportunities.
  • Review project tracking and pin-point problems and issues for your team for the first fifteen minutes of every morning, reviewing internal tracking for accuracy.
  • Meet with direct report staff members each week to discuss performance.
  • Manage all account problems and issues in order to present solutions to management.
  • Establish contact with all clients on the Gragg Advertising account list at least twice a month.
  • Assist in guiding skill development of assigned staff.
  • Provide clients with clear access to department management.
  • Manage monthly, quarterly, and annual revenue projections.
  • Assist with the management of project budgets, making sure no project goes over estimated time.
  • Review marketing strategies of all clients on a weekly basis.
  • Review client campaign concepts.
  • Make contact and form relationships with senior client personnel.
  • Lead negotiation of contracts with clients.
  • Participate in Agency/Client Performance Plan reviews.
  • Maintain direct, day-to-day, senior level client contact.
  • Conduct and lead conference calls with assigned clients.
  • Work in a proactive manner aimed at providing client’s marketing plans with the greatest amount of value added through communications.
  • Work with other agency department heads to keep projects moving forward on a timely basis.
  • Receive client briefings.
  • Analyze client input, together with background knowledge, research, field feedback, etc. to produce full communication plans.
  • Devise communications strategy.
  • Ensure technical and product representations are appropriate.
  • Providing creative, production, media and personnel with well-documented input, support data and production materials as required.
  • In the absence of creative and media personnel, presenting and selling communication plans, concepts and media plans to clients; where creative and media personnel are present, supporting selling of concepts and plans.
  • Providing clients with budget updates.
  • Keeping apprised of all relevant client and market developments.
  • Coordinating and authorizing estimates for client approval.
  • Assisting in preparation of client invoices.
  • Working with research personnel and other non-creative freelance resources.
  • Checking and approving copy, design, and production art, and coordinates client approval.
  • Coordinating project timing and budgets with all relevant agency personnel.
  • Preparing month-end overviews of client’s current activities, and monthly revenue forecasts, plus plans for future development of accounts.
  • Prepare year over year analysis for all assigned accounts.
  • Compile and update client contracts.
  • Representing the agency at industry functions-promoting the agency at every opportunity. 
  • Is fully familiar with agency credentials and specialties.
  • Participate in client visits and travel.
  • Provide support to the Account Service Manager as necessary.
  • All other duties as assigned.

Accountabilities:

  • Account team meets outlined performance criteria.
  • Account team projects are completed in a timely manner.
  • Problem projects are identified and corrective action is taken on weekly basis.
  • Projections on the profitability of assigned accounts are made on a monthly basis.
  • Client relations are positive and stable and identify the highest level of contact in the client’s organization.
  • Outlined agency quality standards are met.
  • Creative products for assigned accounts meet client expectations.
  • Overall account revenues meet the outlined agency goals on media.
  • Advertising strategies for assigned accounts are clearly defined and understood by the creative and media groups involved and approved by the client.

Assigned accounts grow in revenue from all viable sources.
